“Ferrari President Criticizes Drivers Amid F1 Struggles”

Published:

Ferrari’s president, John Elkann, criticized Formula 1 drivers Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc after a disappointing Sao Paulo Grand Prix, urging them to focus more on driving and less on talking. Neither driver scored points in the race, both retiring due to damage.

Meanwhile, Ferrari’s World Endurance Championship team secured the title at the Eight Hours of Bahrain. Alessandro Pier Guidi, Antonio Giovinazzi, and James Calado clinched the drivers’ title, with Ferrari leading by 74 points in the manufacturers’ standings.

In contrast to their success in the WEC, Ferrari has faced challenges in Formula 1 this year. Hamilton has struggled to adapt, with only one Sprint race win in Shanghai as a highlight. Leclerc, despite minimal errors, has not secured a Grand Prix victory this season.

Elkann, who was in Bahrain during the Sao Paulo race, criticized the drivers for Ferrari’s lack of competitiveness. He emphasized the team’s unity in winning the WEC title and highlighted the outstanding performances of the mechanics and engineers, but expressed disappointment in the drivers’ performance.

Currently occupying fourth place in the constructors’ championship, Ferrari is yet to win a Grand Prix in 2025 and has fallen behind Mercedes and Red Bull in recent weeks.

Hamilton, who finished 13th in Sao Paulo, expressed frustration over the team’s results but remained determined to bounce back in the next race. Leclerc acknowledged the challenge of securing second place in the constructors’ championship and praised the team’s efforts to improve performance.
