An altercation between a mother and her son took a tragic turn when the young boy fatally stabbed his parent. The nine-year-old child reportedly attacked his 37-year-old mother following a dispute over his behavior, as reported by the police.
Eyewitnesses recount that Caline Arruda dos Santos, a shopkeeper, requested a final hug from her son after he stabbed her in the abdomen. It is said that moments before the incident, Caline had instructed her son to stop playing in the street.
Subsequently, in the presence of her partner, the boy’s stepfather, Caline warned her son that she would inform a family member about his conduct. The Civil Police report, as cited by Brazilian news outlet Metrópoles, indicates that the boy then retrieved a knife from the kitchen, concealed it in his shirt sleeve, and approached his mother, stabbing her.
A witness shared the heartbreaking words of the victim, who reportedly said, “Come here and give me one last hug, because I won’t survive.” Despite being rushed to a hospital, Caline was pronounced dead upon arrival.
Due to the boy’s age, under 12, he was not taken into police custody as he cannot be prosecuted by the Children’s Court. He is currently being cared for by a relative of the victim.
In an interview, a family member mentioned that the boy seemingly does not fully comprehend the gravity of his actions. The relative stated, “He knows his mother died after another boy told him so.”
The tragic incident occurred on Rua Gaspar Leme, in Parelheiros, south of Sao Paolo, and is currently being investigated by the Civil Police.
In a separate case, a 17-year-old girl, Sarah Patrick, was charged with the murders of her mother and stepfather in Georgia, US. Following her arrest, Sarah exhibited conflicting emotions in court, displaying both laughter and tears during the proceedings. She is facing charges as an adult, with a trial date set for January 5, 2026.
