“Samsung TVs in UK to Offer UKTV Channels Without Additional Devices”

Published:

Samsung TV owners in the UK are set to receive an exciting upgrade, courtesy of UKTV. The popular free-to-air linear channels from UKTV will soon be accessible on Samsung screens without the need for additional devices, marking a first for viewers in the UK.

These channels will be streamed over the internet, eliminating the requirement for a traditional aerial setup. Samsung will also introduce a dedicated rail on its home screen to showcase content from the U streaming service, making it convenient for users to discover classic comedies, dramas, and factual shows without navigating through menus.

In the coming months, Samsung TVs will offer direct access to channels like U&DRAMA, U&Dave, U&YESTERDAY, U&W, and U&eden through a deep link to the U app from Samsung’s Universal Guide. The rollout, reaching millions of Samsung TVs, will feature these channels prominently in the ‘Live’ tab and Universal Guide, ensuring easy access to UKTV’s live and on-demand content for viewers relying on internet-based TV.

Jonathan Newman, General Manager of Commercial at UKTV and BBC Studios UK and Ireland, expressed satisfaction with the enhanced partnership with Samsung, stating that the agreement will enhance accessibility to the U app for Samsung customers and maintain visibility for UKTV’s diverse content.

Dan Harvie, Vice President of Home Entertainment and Appliances at Samsung UK and Ireland, emphasized the importance of UKTV in Samsung’s entertainment offerings. He highlighted the collaboration as a means to provide customers with a broad spectrum of broadcast content, aligning with Samsung’s commitment to enhancing the viewing experience through innovation.

While an official launch date has not been disclosed, the new features are expected to roll out on Samsung TVs soon, promising an enriched entertainment experience for users.
