A recent Windows 11 update has caused issues for Samsung Galaxy Book owners, with many experiencing access problems to the C drive. Users are encountering an “C:is not accessible – Access denied” message, preventing them from opening files and running certain applications like Microsoft Outlook and Office apps.
Affected Samsung model numbers include NP750XGJ, NP750XGL, NP754XGJ, NP754XFG, NP754XGK, DM500SGA, DM500TDA, DM500TGA, and DM501SGA.
Microsoft has acknowledged the issue, linking it to the February 2026 security update (KB5077181) and subsequent updates. The error message “C: is not accessible – Access denied” is hindering file access and application launches. The problem arises during common actions like file access, application launch, or administrative tasks without requiring specific user actions.
The root cause is believed to be Samsung’s Galaxy Connect app, which facilitates screen mirroring, file sharing, and data transfer between Galaxy smartphones and Windows PCs. The app has been removed from the Windows app store while a solution is worked on.
Samsung has reinstated a stable previous version of the application to prevent further occurrences. Recovery options for impacted devices are limited, and Samsung is collaborating with Microsoft on remediation strategies.
There is no set timeline for the fix release. Samsung PC owners should hold off on updating to Windows 11 versions 24H2 and 25H2. Users on these versions are advised to refrain from updating for now.
