Young darts sensation Luke Littler shared that a remark from Ricardo Pietreczko motivated him to overcome the German player 10-6, securing his spot in the quarter-finals of the Players Championship Finals.

Initially trailing 3-1 against Pietreczko, Littler, also known as ‘The Nuke,’ staged a comeback, winning nine out of the next 12 legs with an impressive average score to advance to the final eight in Minehead.

During a pivotal moment in the match when the score was tied at five each, Pietreczko’s comment fueled Littler’s determination to turn the game around.

Reflecting on the match, Littler mentioned, “At 5-5, he commented, ‘I was only looking forward to getting one leg and now I’ve got five.’ That fueled my resolve to win the game and showcase my skills.”

Displaying an average score of 102.67 and hitting six 180s, the talented 18-year-old, who recently claimed the world No.1 title after winning the Grand Slam, also executed a remarkable 121 finish that stirred emotions between the players from a past European Tour event.

Assessing his performance, Littler expressed, “While trailing at 3-2, I managed to level the score at five-all and pushed forward. Despite some struggles with my doubles, I sealed the win and aim to improve my game for the upcoming matches.”

Littler is set to face world No.9 Chris Dobey in the quarter-finals, with a potential match against the winner of Gerwyn Price versus Daryl Gurney in the semi-finals if he emerges victorious. Meanwhile, other exciting matchups include Nathan Aspinall versus Josh Rock and James Wade against Jermaine Wattimena in the quarter-final session at the Players Championship Finals.
