“Veteran Constitution Hill Faces Rising Star The New Lion”

Published:

Renowned horse trainer Nicky Henderson remains unfazed as he gears up for the highly anticipated showdown between seasoned veteran Constitution Hill and rising star The New Lion this Saturday. Constitution Hill, previously undefeated in ten races, faced setbacks last season with falls at prominent events like the Champion Hurdle and Aintree.

Henderson recently disclosed that Constitution Hill underwent thorough evaluation at an equine specialist, akin to a check-up, to ensure peak performance. The veteran horse is currently listed as the third favorite for the upcoming Champion Hurdle, trailing behind contenders such as Lossiemouth and The New Lion, the latter slated to challenge him at the BetMGM Fighting Fifth Hurdle in Newcastle.

Despite showcasing good form in a recent gallop at Newbury, Constitution Hill faces a tough test against The New Lion, winner of the Turners Novices’ Hurdle at the prestigious Cheltenham Festival. Other notable entries include Anzadam from Willie Mullins’ stable and the reigning Champion Hurdle victor Golden Ace.

Bookmakers at Coral have placed both Constitution Hill and The New Lion as joint favorites at 11-8 odds, followed by Anzadam at 3-1, Golden Ace at 20-1, and Nemean Lion at 33-1. Henderson, expressing confidence in his horse, emphasized that the upcoming race will serve as a significant benchmark for their progress compared to the previous year.

As preparations intensify, Henderson mentioned the logistical details for the race day, highlighting the strategic considerations made for the event. While Henderson will oversee other entries at Newbury, the owner, Michael Buckley, is expected to be present at the Newcastle event.
