“Ronnie O’Sullivan Returns to German Masters After Nine-Year Break”

Published:

Ronnie O’Sullivan is set to return to the German Masters in January after a nine-year hiatus from the event. Known as “The Rocket,” O’Sullivan has not participated in the main stages of the tournament since 2017 but is now in contention for the £550,000 prize.

Having skipped the tournament for nearly a decade, O’Sullivan attempted to qualify for the 2022 event but was defeated 5-0 by Hossein Vafaei. However, this year, he is among the top 16 seeds and will face Haris Tahir, Zhao Hanyang, or Long Zehuang in his opening match.

The German Masters, commencing on January 26 at the Tempodrom in Berlin, will feature top players like Kyren Wilson, the defending champion, and Judd Trump, a frequent winner in recent editions. Notably, O’Sullivan has a history of last-minute withdrawals from events due to health reasons.

Ranked eighth globally, O’Sullivan, who recently relocated to Dubai following his marriage to actress Laila Rouass, expressed challenges with jet lag and cited prioritizing his well-being in previous decisions to withdraw from tournaments. Sky has introduced an upgraded TV and sports bundle, now inclusive of popular streaming services and extensive sports coverage, including the Premier League and EFL matches.

The broadcasting giant offers over 1,400 live matches across various sports, ensuring comprehensive coverage for sports enthusiasts. For the latest news updates, consider selecting Daily Mirror as a ‘Preferred Source’ on Google News.
