A tragic fire at retirement home flats in the Bosnian city of Tuzla has resulted in the loss of at least 11 lives, with over 30 people sustaining injuries. The fire started on the seventh floor of the building late last night, causing extensive damage.

The Prime Minister of Bosnia’s Muslim-Croat entity, Nermin Niksic, described the fire as a “disaster of enormous proportions.” Video footage captured flames engulfing the upper floors of the building. Authorities plan to begin identifying the victims and launch an investigation into the cause of the fire once conditions permit.

A resident, Ruza Kajic, residing on the third floor, recounted being awakened by a loud noise and witnessing burning debris falling outside. She expressed concern for the bedridden individuals on the upper floors.

The retirement home issued a statement affirming that authorities are actively working to uncover the circumstances surrounding the tragic incident. Reports indicate that several individuals are receiving treatment for carbon monoxide poisoning, with three in critical condition.
