A woman is facing charges following an incident where a former AFC Bournemouth football player suffered severe injuries in a motorway crash. Jordan Chiedozie, a former player for both Bournemouth and Southend United, was hit by a car while attending to a flat tire on the M27. The driver, Anna Bogusiewicz, 45, has been charged with causing serious injury by dangerous driving and driving under the influence.

The court date for Bogusiewicz has been set for December 1 at Southampton Crown Court. The crash occurred while Chiedozie was with his physio, Reighan Taylor, between junction two and three on the eastbound side of the motorway. Chiedozie, who played for Bashley FC, had stopped to check his car tire after a match.

The impact of the collision left Chiedozie with numerous fractures and other physical trauma, resulting in him being placed in a medically induced coma and undergoing a leg amputation. Chiedozie, son of former Tottenham Hotspur player John Chiedozie, discussed the life-altering crash, emphasizing the importance of staying positive and focusing on recovery.

In a recent interview with the BBC, Chiedozie shared his ongoing journey of adapting to a new lifestyle with a prosthetic leg. Reflecting on the loss of Liverpool forward Diogo Jota in a car accident, Chiedozie expressed gratitude for surviving his own ordeal despite the challenges of severe injuries and rehabilitation.

Since the amputation, Chiedozie has been relearning basic tasks like walking. Despite the frustrations, he remains determined to move forward and adapt to his new reality.
