The Canadian team took charge early and maintained the lead for almost 32 minutes, widening the gap to 30 points in the third quarter. Syla Swords and Delaney Gibb both contributed 17 points each, with Jasmine Bascoe adding 15 points, eight assists, and four rebounds, propelling Canada into the final. Swords displayed remarkable accuracy, shooting 6-for-8 from the field and a flawless 5-for-5 from beyond the arc.
The upcoming final will see Canada facing the host nation, Mexico, in a highly anticipated showdown with not only the tournament title at stake but also a coveted spot in the next phase of Olympic qualification. Mexico secured their place in the final by defeating Brazil in the other semifinal matchup.
Having previously triumphed over Mexico with a 70-64 win in the group stage, Canada sets the stage for a thrilling rematch in the championship game. The victor of the tournament will secure a spot in one of the FIBA Women’s Olympic Qualifying Tournaments scheduled for February 2028.
