Alanis Morissette has taken legal action against her former tour manager, accusing her of attempting to blackmail her into signing a lengthy contract by threatening to falsely accuse her of drug trafficking. The lawsuit, filed in California, alleges that Keren Urinov demanded employment as a tour director for 15 years and substantial compensation under the threat of reporting Morissette to British authorities for drug-related charges.
Urinov, who previously worked for Live Nation in Israel, was hired temporarily as a tour manager for Morissette’s world tour in 2025. An incident at an airport involving a bag flagged for containing marijuana and an animal tranquilizer led to Urinov’s arrest, although she was later released after presenting her medical marijuana license.
Following the tour, Urinov allegedly sent multiple threatening letters to Morissette, demanding the singer sign a 15-year contract providing significant financial benefits. The lawsuit also highlights instances where Urinov’s management of the tour was deemed unsatisfactory, including costly errors and a past criminal history involving drug smuggling that was not disclosed during the hiring process.
Morissette, described as “reluctant” to take legal action, stated that she felt compelled to sue to prevent being coerced into an unfair agreement with Urinov. The singer is now seeking a trial by jury to address the alleged extortion and fraudulent behavior. Requests for comments from Urinov and Morissette’s representatives have not been answered.
