“The One About Matthew Perry: Netflix Docuseries Reveals Untold Story”

Published:

Throughout the long stint of Friends, Matthew Perry’s Chandler Bing was a fan favorite. However, following his passing in 2023, many found it challenging to reconcile the revelations of his ketamine addiction with the beloved sitcom character they had grown to love.

Netflix has now announced a three-part docuseries titled The One About Matthew Perry, promising a more comprehensive look at the actor from Canada. The show will delve into Perry’s evolution from a rising comedy star to his iconic role on the popular NBC show. The streaming service revealed that the series will feature “never-before-heard testimonies” from his inner circle, including close friends and his sister Mia Perry Bowick.

Bowick, a grief specialist in psychotherapy, has openly discussed her grieving process following Perry’s demise. In a statement, she expressed, “It’s taken time for me to feel ready to share these memories and what it was like to love Matthew through all the complexity of his life — to see him as a whole person, not just as Chandler, and not just as someone who struggled with addiction.”

Perry was discovered deceased in his backyard hot tub at 54 due to a ketamine overdose. Five individuals pleaded guilty to various charges related to providing him with the drug. Dr. Salvador Plasencia, one of them who sold Perry ketamine, is currently appealing his 30-month prison sentence.

Netflix assured that the upcoming docuseries will not only feature reminiscences from Perry’s admirers but will also reveal “candid new details on his private struggles, honoring the legacy of honesty and advocacy he leaves behind.”

The docuseries is scheduled to premiere on Oct. 27.
