The New Jersey Devils have appointed Jessica Campbell as the manager of hockey development and Bryan McCabe as the Vice President of prospect personnel and assistant general manager for the Utica Comets in the American Hockey League. These decisions were made public as the team’s players begin training camp. The recent hires are part of new General Manager Sunny Mehta’s efforts to strengthen the front office.
Campbell transitions to the Devils after serving as an assistant coach for the Seattle Kraken for the past two seasons. Notably, Campbell made history as the first woman to hold a full-time on-bench coaching position in the NHL. Both Campbell and McCabe will be under the supervision of assistant GM Braden Birch, who also followed Mehta from the Florida Panthers. McCabe, who previously worked as the director of player personnel in Florida, brings his expertise to the Devils’ organization alongside Campbell.
Jessica Campbell’s groundbreaking journey as the NHL’s first female bench coach is highlighted in an interview with The National’s Ian Hanomansing, where she discusses her hockey career trajectory and the resilient mindset that propelled her to the pinnacle of the sport.
