Striker Cyle Larin and winger Tajon Buchanan have departed from the Canadian men’s soccer team due to injuries. Larin encountered back discomfort before the team’s friendly match against Peru, following his participation in Canada’s triumph over Chile. On the other hand, Buchanan sustained a lower-body injury during a clash with a Peruvian player in Canada’s victory in Montreal.
Larin has headed back to Southampton in the English Championship, while Buchanan is returning to La Liga’s Villareal for further assessment by their respective clubs. To compensate for their absence, head coach Jesse Marsch has enlisted Major League Soccer forwards Marcus Caldeira from Minnesota United and Theo Corbeanu from Toronto FC to complete the team roster.
The Canadian team is scheduled to conclude the international window with a friendly game against the United States in St. Paul, Minnesota on Tuesday.
