“Taylor Ruck Wins Silver and Bronze in World Cup Swim Meet”

Canadian swimmer Taylor Ruck added to her collection of medals at the World Aquatics Swimming World Cup by securing a silver in the 200-meter backstroke and a bronze in the 100-meter freestyle in Azerbaijan over the weekend. Hailing from Kelowna, British Columbia, the 26-year-old athlete made her way to the podium for the fourth time in three days, previously winning silver in the 100-meter backstroke and bronze in the 50-meter freestyle at the Aquatic Palace in Baku. Ruck, a four-time Olympic medalist in relay events, finished just a fraction of a second behind Anna Peplowski of the United States in the short-course backstroke event. Freya Constance Colbert of Britain claimed third place, trailing Peplowski and Ruck by over three seconds. Ruck’s teammate Brooklyn Douthwright from Riverview, New Brunswick, secured the fourth position in the same race.

In the freestyle category, Ruck clinched third place, falling slightly over a second and a half behind the winner, Marrit Steenbergen from the Netherlands. Katarzyna Wasick of Poland took the second spot in the competition. Meanwhile, in the men’s 100-meter backstroke event, Blake Tierney from Saskatoon finished in fourth place.

Taylor Ruck’s impressive performance earned her a total of four medals at the Baku World Cup, showcasing her skill and determination in the pool.
