The Ottawa Senators will kick off their season at home tonight by honoring the late goalie Ray Emery, who tragically passed away in Lake Ontario in 2018 at the age of 35. Emery, a native of Hamilton, was selected by the Senators in the 2001 draft and played five seasons with the team. His standout moment came in 2007 when he led the Senators to their first modern-era Stanley Cup Final appearance.
To commemorate Emery, his family has been invited to ring the ceremonial bell at the Canadian Tire Centre as Ottawa faces the Philadelphia Flyers. The Senators, after starting the season with three away games resulting in two wins and a loss, have extended their free bus service for fans attending home games.
For the home opener tonight, buses will depart from eight locations including Liam Maguire’s, Local Heroes, Thirsty Moose, Glebe Central Pub, Hometown Sports, Le Pele Mele, Ollie’s Pub & Patio, and Father & Sons.
