Beloved Breast Cancer Warrior & Live Streamer Chen Meiying Passes Away

Published:

A beloved live streamer who shared her cancer journey online has tragically passed away, just months after announcing her “cure” to followers. Chen Meiying, a 39-year-old mother, lost her battle with triple-negative breast cancer on October 12, following a challenging year of treatment. Meiying’s initial diagnosis in 2024 led to significant financial strain as she closed her clothing shop to focus on her health.

Turning to live streaming on TikTok, Meiying sang traditional songs to raise funds, displaying a positive and cheerful demeanor despite her illness. Despite a brief moment of hope when she declared herself cured in April, the cancer returned swiftly, spreading to her bones and lymph nodes. Doctors could only offer treatments to prolong her life, with no possibility of a cure.

Throughout her declining health, Meiying remained determined, driven by her teenage daughter and insisting on maintaining her daily routines, including the school run. Her final social media post was shared on September 22, and she was readmitted to the hospital on September 26. Meiying passed away on October 12 and was laid to rest in her hometown, leaving behind her elderly mother.

Known for her inspiring words, Meiying once said, “You can be poor, you can be tired, but you cannot be unhappy, because unhappiness makes you sick.” Triple-negative breast cancer is a highly aggressive and challenging type of breast cancer, known for its rapid growth and limited treatment options, often with a poor prognosis. This form of cancer primarily affects women under 40, with cases in men being extremely rare.
