“Blackpool Council Offers £300 Energy Assistance to Eligible Households”

Published:

Thousands of households may qualify for £300 in energy assistance this winter. Blackpool Council is providing this support through its Household Support Fund to eligible households. Each local authority administers its version of the fund, offering various types of aid like energy support, supermarket vouchers, and cash grants.

Qualifying households in Blackpool can receive £200 in energy aid if they consist of one or two individuals, including children. Families with three or more members, including children, are eligible for a £300 award.

To access this assistance, applicants must demonstrate financial hardship and difficulties in paying their bills. Proof of recent bank statements for all household members is required.

Applicants do not need to receive Universal Credit or other benefits to apply for this fund, but they can only receive one award within a 12-month period. The payment is sent directly to the energy provider and will be reflected as a credit on the bill or pre-payment meter. Applications can be submitted via the Blackpool Council website.

Residents outside Blackpool should inquire with their local council about the support available through the Household Support Fund. Different councils offer various forms of aid, such as free vouchers and one-off payments, based on eligibility criteria.

For instance, Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council is issuing £120 worth of vouchers to qualifying residents, while City of York Council is providing one-off £100 payments to those receiving council tax bill assistance. Portsmouth City Council is granting £150 to single-person households and £200 to couples or families meeting specific income thresholds.

Individuals must meet certain benefit criteria and have household incomes below specified levels to qualify for the aid. Application details and eligibility requirements vary by council, so residents are encouraged to check with their local authorities for more information.
