The Canadian senior women’s basketball squad dominated the Philippines with an 85-38 victory at the FIBA Olympic Pre-Qualifying Tournament in Guadalajara, Mexico. Yvonne Ejim led Canada with 19 points, while Syla Swords contributed 15 points to the win. The Canadian team took an early lead of 23-4 at Arena Astros and extended it to 46-11 by halftime. The tournament, featuring eight teams, will run until Sunday.
Previously, Canada secured a 72-57 win against Senegal in the tournament opener. Their next match will be against the host team, Mexico, on Thursday. The ultimate victor of the tournament will secure a spot in one of the FIBA Women’s Olympic Qualifying Tournaments scheduled for February 2028.
