Chancellor’s Budget Focuses on NHS, Debt, and Living Costs

Published:

In a matter of days, I will present my second Budget as the Chancellor. As I outline our plans to reduce NHS waiting lists, lower national debt, and decrease the cost of living, the well-being of working families will be my primary focus. These goals align with both the nation’s priorities and my personal objectives as Chancellor.

Our commitment to reducing NHS waiting lists stems from the need to uplift the healthcare system from previous difficulties, reverse the effects of austerity imposed by previous administrations, and ensure patients receive timely treatment without prolonged delays.

Addressing national debt is crucial, as allocating a significant portion of our budget to debt interest payments hinders investments in essential services like education, healthcare, law enforcement, and community development.

The issue of high living costs continues to burden households, particularly affecting ordinary families. Recognizing this strain on working people, I am determined to tackle this challenge in the upcoming Budget. Our government has already taken steps to alleviate financial pressures on households, such as maintaining frozen prescription charges and rail fares, introducing school breakfast clubs, and combatting ticket scalping to make entertainment more affordable.

These initiatives are just a glimpse of our ongoing efforts to assist individuals with daily expenses. Rest assured, my Budget will extend further support to alleviate the cost of living, made possible by our economic stability and prudent financial management practices to avoid repeating past mistakes.

By cracking down on inefficiencies, waste, and fraud, we ensure that every pound spent serves its intended purpose, whether in asylum support, eliminating police and crime commissioners, or preventing welfare fraud. This Budget is designed to benefit you and your family, aiming to foster a fairer, resilient, and secure Britain.
