“Darth Vader’s Lightsaber Up for Auction”

Published:

In a recent auction held in July, a lightsaber linked to Luke Skywalker’s hand from the movie The Empire Strikes Back was successfully sold for a record-breaking $3.75 million US. This sale set a new benchmark as the highest amount ever paid for a prop used in any Star Wars film, as confirmed by the auction house.

The upcoming Ultimate Star Wars Auction by Heritage Auctions on Nov. 12 will feature a significant piece – Darth Vader’s lightsaber used in the iconic duel at Cloud City, where the famous line “I am your father” was spoken to Skywalker. This lightsaber, also seen in Return of the Jedi, is anticipated to fetch a minimum of $1 million US. The auction will offer over two dozen lightsaber props from Star Wars Episodes I to IX, along with items from various films and TV productions within the George Lucas universe.

Among the items up for bidding are the lightsabers wielded by Ewan McGregor’s Obi-Wan Kenobi and Hayden Christensen’s Anakin Skywalker in Revenge of the Sith, with each expected to sell for at least $10,000 US. Additionally, an EE-3 carbine blaster used by Boba Fett in The Empire Strikes Back is estimated to fetch over $100,000 US.

Furthermore, the auction will feature unique items such as a Yoda puppet hand utilized by Frank Oz in The Empire Strikes Back, Anthony Daniels’ signed personal third-draft screenplay for the original 1977 Star Wars, and a TIE Fighter pilot helmet from Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.
