“Dolly Parton’s Lasting Legacy of Generosity”

Published:

Dolly Parton’s extensive history of charitable giving has been well-documented, with a heartfelt tribute from her sister shedding light on the deep-rooted spirit of generosity within her. Stella Parton took to Instagram to share how she and Dolly used to start their Tuesdays early, enjoying coffee together over the phone.

In one of their last conversations, Dolly expressed to Stella her willingness to undergo experimental medical treatments even if there was no hope for her, all in the hopes of benefiting future patients. When questioned by CBC News, Dolly Parton’s publicist did not provide any confirmation regarding the star’s involvement in experimental treatments towards the end of her life.

Although details on experimental treatments remain unconfirmed, Dolly Parton is widely recognized for her significant contribution to COVID-19 research. In November 2020, she made a generous $1-million US donation to Nashville’s Vanderbilt University Medical Center, a portion of which supported the development of the Moderna mRNA coronavirus vaccine.

Notably, Dolly received her first COVID-19 vaccine dose on camera, injecting a touch of humor by singing modified lyrics to her renowned song “Jolene.” The administering doctor in the video, Dr. Naji Abumrad, shared a special bond with Dolly since their initial meeting at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in 2013.

In a recent opinion piece by Jad Abumrad in the New York Times, it was revealed that Dr. Naji Abumrad was by Dolly’s side in her final moments, underscoring the depth of their enduring friendship. Stella Parton expressed her admiration for her sister’s genuine character, emphasizing Dolly’s legacy of generosity and kindness that has left an indelible impact on the world.
