The event marks the beginning of the final phase of the global track and field season, which includes the Diamond League Final and the new World Athletics Ultimate Championship.
Upcoming events include a star-studded 100m race that will be a highlight of the Diamond League’s return. The lead-up to the Diamond League Final in Brussels on September 4-5 features only three more regular-season meets. Among the anticipated matchups is a men’s 800m race featuring the medallists from the 2024 Paris Olympics, including Emmanuel Wanyonyi of Kenya, Marco Arop of Canada, and Djamel Sedjati of Algeria.
Viewers can catch the action live on CBC Gem or watch a replay on CBC TV. The schedule includes the men’s 800m at 2:40 p.m. ET and the 200m races at 2:15 p.m. ET (women’s) and 3:41 p.m. ET (men’s).
On Saturday, the competition moves to Poland’s Silesian Stadium for two days of thrilling events, including the women’s shot put featuring top athletes like Sarah Mitton of Canada, Jessica Schilder of the Netherlands, and Chase Jackson of the United States.
Sunday’s lineup includes the men’s 100m with notable competitors like Andre De Grasse, Oblique Seville, Kenny Bednarek, and Christian Coleman. Additionally, fans can look forward to seeing Norwegian star Jakob Ingebrigtsen in the men’s 1,500m and a women’s 100m race featuring top sprinters like Julien Alfred, Melissa Jefferson-Wooden, and Zoe Hobbs.
The Diamond League Final in Brussels will see the top athletes compete for the Diamond Trophy and substantial cash prizes. The Ultimate Championship in Budapest will follow, offering a significant prize pool and showcasing the world’s best athletes in a high-stakes competition.
