A tragic incident occurred in Vacaria, Brazil, where a father and daughter lost their lives in a devastating bee attack. The daughter, Silvana da Fatima Braganca da Luz, 54, veered off a rural dirt track and crashed into a beehive, unleashing a swarm of bees. Upon hearing the commotion, a neighbor rushed to alert Silvana’s parents while emergency services were on their way to the remote location.
Silvana’s father, Raul Portela da Luz, 79, bravely attempted to rescue his daughter from the overturned truck but was fatally stung in the process. He was rushed to the hospital in critical condition and tragically passed away the following day. Silvana also succumbed to her injuries, while her mother, aged 72, who was also stung multiple times, survived after receiving medical treatment and has been discharged.
The incident took place in the municipality of Vacaria, Rio Grande do Sul, and the firefighters, the first responders to reach the scene, had to travel nearly 40 miles from their station. A spokesperson for the fire department reported that both victims suffered numerous bee stings, with Raul passing away in the hospital and Silvana succumbing to her injuries.
Authorities have initiated an investigation awaiting official confirmation that the deaths of Raul and his daughter were a direct result of the bee stings.
