Jake Paul’s Promoter Investigates Allegations Against Gervonta Davis

Published:

Jake Paul’s promotional company has issued a statement following allegations against his upcoming opponent, Gervonta Davis, including battery, false imprisonment, and kidnapping by an ex-girlfriend.

The scheduled exhibition bout between Paul and Davis in Miami on November 14 has raised concerns, given the serious accusations against Davis. The fight, set between a lightweight and cruiserweight boxer, would not affect their professional records but would determine a winner through stoppage or judges’ decision.

Amid reports suggesting Paul reaching out to Ryan Garcia as a replacement, Most Valuable Promotions, Paul’s company, stated that they are investigating the situation. The statement emphasizes their condemnation of violence and the need for a thorough review before making a decision.

Davis, yet to respond to the allegations, has been defended by his trainer, Calvin Ford, who dismissed the claims as baseless. The lawsuit accuses Davis of assaulting his ex-partner at her workplace and threatening her life. The ex-partner alleges multiple physical assaults and seeks damages along with a jury trial.

While Garcia was considered as a replacement, promoter Oscar De La Hoya clarified that the fight could not happen due to contractual obligations with different platforms. Paul’s potential return to the ring, possibly in December, has sparked rumors of a matchup with heavyweight Anthony Joshua, although a swift agreement seems unlikely.
