Lando Norris Challenges McLaren as Las Vegas Grand Prix Approaches

Published:

Lando Norris confidently expressed his views to a journalist by stating, “I can say what I want,” as he shared his belief that McLaren may not be the favorites at the upcoming Las Vegas Grand Prix. The British driver achieved impressive consecutive wins over the weekend in Brazil, securing a remarkable clean sweep.

Heading into the season’s final triple header, Norris holds a significant 24-point lead over his McLaren teammate, Oscar Piastri, who currently sits in second place in the World Championship standings. The racer from Bristol dominated the Autodromo Jose Carlos Pace with pole positions and victories in both races throughout the weekend.

Despite his recent success, Norris remains cautious as he looks ahead to the upcoming Las Vegas race. Recalling his early crash at the street circuit’s debut event in 2023 and finishing sixth last year as Max Verstappen clinched the championship, Norris is mindful of the challenges ahead.

During a post-race press conference in Sao Paulo, Norris dismissed McLaren’s status as race favorites for the impending event. When questioned by a reporter, Norris stood firm in his position, emphasizing his commitment to honesty and transparency in his assessments.

Formula 1 enthusiasts can enjoy live coverage of all practice sessions, qualifying rounds, and races with the new Essential TV and Sky Sports bundle offered by Sky, providing a substantial saving of £192. This bundle not only grants access to Sky Sports but also includes over 100 TV channels and complimentary subscriptions to Netflix and Discovery+.

“I can say what I want, I can think what I want,” Norris asserted. “I always strive to be honest. If I believe we may struggle, I will say so. While I am not predicting a specific position, I anticipate a challenging race.”

Highlighting the team’s historical performance at the upcoming venue, Norris shared, “We have historically struggled at that track, so I approach this race with caution. I may surprise myself with a win, but I prefer to be realistic rather than overly confident.”

In conclusion, Norris reiterated his commitment to expressing his genuine opinions, stating, “I will speak my mind, regardless of others’ expectations or opinions. I value honesty and transparency in my assessments.”
