Swedish pole vault athlete Armand “Mondo” Duplantis has unveiled his preferred color in a promotional campaign for the inaugural Ultimate Championship. The two-time Olympic gold medalist collaborated with World Athletics to release “Gold,” the event’s anthem, which features a substantial prize pool of $10 million.
Scheduled to take place in Budapest from September 11-13, the Ultimate Championship will showcase renowned athletes, including Olympic, world, and Diamond League champions, across three evening sessions. Winners of individual events will receive $150,000 in prize money.
Duplantis, 26, who holds the world record, has been involved in music for several years and previously dropped his debut single, “Bop,” in 2025. Expressing his aspirations, Duplantis revealed his dream of clinching a Grammy Award.
Co-written by Duplantis with Carl Silvergran and Oscar Chase, “Gold” was produced by Chase, according to a statement from World Athletics. The music video, shot in Budapest, features archival footage of Duplantis during his early athletic endeavors.
In a statement, Duplantis emphasized the song’s significance in representing something larger than oneself, drawing parallels with the collective representation seen in sports. The Ultimate Championship will integrate “Gold” into its broadcast and live-event experience, aiming to unite fans globally.
Scheduled to perform “Gold” live at the event’s conclusion, Duplantis will add a musical touch to the championship’s festivities. World Athletics President Sebastian Coe praised the athlete’s multifaceted talents, emphasizing the Ultimate Championship’s role in showcasing athletes’ skills beyond the track.
The biennial event is designed to highlight athletes’ talents and passions, offering a platform for stars like Duplantis to shine both in their athletic pursuits and creative endeavors.
