A mother has shared her shock after discovering that her female acquaintance was involved with convicted pedophile Ian Watkins. The former Lostprophets singer recently died in prison while serving a 29-year sentence for multiple child sex crimes.
Watkins’ disturbing offenses included the attempted rape of an infant and trying to sexually assault a child under 13 years old. During his trial, it was revealed that he had exploited his fame to manipulate and dominate others, often while under the influence of hard drugs like crystal meth.
Referred to as ‘Woman B’ during her trial in 2013, the accomplice had spent seven years behind bars and misled Bethany Jones, a pseudonym. Jones befriended her in 2021, unaware of her true past, and even allowed her to interact with her son and his friends at a birthday party.
It wasn’t until later that year that Jones learned the shocking truth about her friend’s involvement with Watkins. Woman B failed a background check, which ultimately exposed her past crimes to Jones. Woman B had been convicted for conspiring to rape a child, multiple sexual assault charges, and possessing indecent images.
Released at the end of her sentence in June 2021, Woman B was promptly returned to prison for violating her terms of release. Jones revealed that this breach involved the daughter of Woman B’s new partner, with whom she was living in defiance of her sentencing conditions.
Reflecting on the situation, Jones expressed her disgust upon learning the truth about Woman B and expressed relief that she never left her son in her care. Two other individuals who offered their own children to Watkins for abuse were also sentenced for their involvement in the case.
Both women, identified as Woman A and Woman B, pleaded guilty to their crimes, sparing jurors from viewing disturbing evidence. Woman B, in particular, admitted to conspiring to rape a child, various sexual assaults, and possessing indecent images, leading the judge to remark that she had shown a lack of regard for her own child’s humanity.
