David Schumacher, the nephew of legendary racer Michael Schumacher, has recently gotten engaged to Vivien Keszthelyi. The couple, who met through a mutual acquaintance and have been in a relationship for several years, shared the exciting news on social media last weekend.
David, known for his participation in the 2025 GT World Challenge Europe Endurance Cup with the HRT Ford Performance team, proposed to Vivien while they were on a romantic trip to the Maldives. Posting some picturesque moments on Instagram, the 24-year-old expressed, “She said yes. The ocean witnessed our love, and the sunset sealed our promise. 05.11.2025.” Vivien also expressed her gratitude for the overwhelming support and well wishes from their followers.
Among those who congratulated the couple was David’s father, Ralf, a former Formula 1 race winner. In contrast, David’s uncle, Michael Schumacher, has been in need of constant medical care at home since sustaining a severe head injury in a skiing accident in 2013. Neurosurgeon Dr. Jussi Posti, who closely follows Schumacher’s case, mentioned that Michael has likely been in a stable condition for the past decade.
Michael’s wife, Corinna, offered insights into his life following the incident in a 2021 Netflix documentary. Reflecting on the tragic event, she shared, “I have never blamed God for what happened. It was just really bad luck, all the bad luck anyone can have in life.” Their son, Mick, also spoke about the impact of the accident, expressing how he misses the meaningful conversations they used to have about motorsport.
Despite the challenges faced by the Schumacher family, David’s engagement brings a glimmer of joy and hope for the future.
