“Nottingham Council Offers £100 Vouchers to Needy Residents”

Published:

Nottingham City Council is offering £100 supermarket vouchers through the Household Support Fund, with the deadline for applications approaching at midnight. While specific eligibility criteria are not listed, it is expected that those with low incomes or receiving benefits will qualify. Interested individuals can submit their applications on the Nottingham City Council website.

The council aims to notify applicants via email by December 12, but the actual distribution of vouchers may extend until February 28, 2026. 10,000 vouchers will be randomly allocated to successful households, regardless of whether they have previously received a voucher from the council since April 2025.

Councillor Cheryl Barnard, Executive Member for Children, Young People and Education, expressed satisfaction with the additional £1 million allocated to support vulnerable Nottingham residents during the winter months. This funding aims to alleviate financial pressures faced by households due to rising living costs in recent years.

The Household Support Fund, part of a £742 million funding initiative for local councils in England, assists vulnerable households with essential living expenses such as energy bills and food. Nottingham residents experiencing financial difficulties are encouraged to explore additional support options available on the council’s website.

Various councils, including Wakefield and Blackpool, are providing vouchers and financial assistance to households in need. Pensioners receiving Council Tax Support have already benefited from vouchers, with more assistance planned for other eligible households in the coming weeks.

To qualify for support, individuals must demonstrate financial hardship and an inability to meet bill payments. Submission of recent bank statements for all household members is typically required for verification purposes.
