Russian Missiles Kill 3 in Kyiv Amid Conflict

Published:

Russian ballistic missiles caused casualty and damage in Kyiv early on Thursday, as per Mayor Vitali Klitschko, resulting in at least three deaths and 20 injuries while disrupting the power supply in parts of the city. Mayor Klitschko reported a fire breaking out in a nine-story residential building following the Russian attack, with people trapped in various locations as the strikes hit residential and non-residential buildings, warehouses, and a children’s hospital. Witnesses heard over a dozen explosions, and another person was reported killed in the region near the Ukrainian capital.

The conflict between Russia and Ukraine continues with daily exchanges of attacks since Russia’s full-scale invasion in February 2022, despite unsuccessful diplomatic attempts by the United States and Europe to establish a lasting ceasefire. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy had presented peace proposals to U.S. negotiators Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, although they have not visited Kyiv yet. Russia’s foreign ministry spokeswoman, Maria Zakharova, mentioned that Russia had not received specific proposals for potential new meetings with U.S. negotiators but expressed readiness to arrange a meeting promptly if required.

In related developments, Ukraine carried out a significant drone strike in Russia, targeting locations including Moscow, showcasing its enhanced capability in long-range strikes against Russia.
