Sky has announced upcoming changes to its TV channel lineup, with two platforms, Sky Showcase and Sky Max, set to stop broadcasting content. However, to compensate for this, a beloved channel, Sky One, will be relaunched to cater to subscribers with a range of new comedy and entertainment programs. This includes popular shows like The Dyers’ Caravan Park and Gemma Collins: Four Weddings and a Baby, as well as returning favorites such as Rob & Romesh Vs. and The Paper and Ted.
Additionally, Sky One will be the exclusive home of Saturday Night Live UK, premiering later this year. Carli Kerr, MD of Sky TV & NOW, expressed enthusiasm about the channel’s relaunch, emphasizing its diverse content lineup that includes new Sky Originals and established favorites.
Sky One is scheduled to go live on channel 106 on February 24. In conjunction with this channel launch, Sky is introducing a new plan called Ultimate TV, offering access to Disney+, Netflix, Hayu, and the upcoming HBO Max app for £24 per month. Subscribers to this plan will also gain access to over 130 premium channels like Sky Comedy, Sky Documentaries, and Sky History.
Furthermore, Sky Cinema users will benefit from a dedicated Disney movie channel integrated into the TV guide, allowing for streamlined viewing of Hollywood hits without needing to open the Disney+ app. The £24 plan includes Netflix Standard with Ads, Disney+ Standard with Ads (starting in March), HBO Max Basic with Ads (starting March 26), Hayu (available from July), and the wide selection of Sky channels.
In summary, Sky’s channel lineup is evolving to offer a diverse range of content to cater to the preferences of its subscribers.
