A horse racing trainer in Dubbo, Australia, has been disqualified after verbally abusing a racing steward during an inspection. Garry Lunn, a successful trainer with over 500 wins, became confrontational and used inappropriate language towards the steward, Xavier Dalton, during the inspection. Lunn made disrespectful comments, including calling the steward derogatory names and questioning his competence.
The incident escalated when Lunn followed the steward to his car, continuing to berate him. As a result, Lunn was charged with obstructing and insulting the steward and was found guilty of the offenses. He received a three-month disqualification for the first charge and a nine-month disqualification for the second charge, to be served concurrently starting from November 14, 2025, until August 14, 2026.
