A young man’s life took a remarkable turn when he won £450,000 after spending £30 on raffle tickets during a pub quiz celebration for completing his apprenticeship. James Manley, a 23-year-old software developer apprentice, was thrilled to secure the dream prize to buy his first home. Living with his parents in Elephant and Castle, London, while balancing work and studies, James felt overwhelmed and stressed. Hearing success stories of people owning homes through property competitions inspired him to take a chance on the Tramway Path raffle.
Recounting the moment he found out about his win, James shared that he was at a pub quiz when he received the life-changing call. Initially thinking it was work-related, he was shocked to hear he was the lucky winner. This win was James’ third attempt at the Tramway Path raffle. Overwhelmed with emotions, he rushed home to share the news with his family, who initially doubted its authenticity.
After meeting with the competition organizers, James decided to accept the £450,000 cash prize to purchase a two-bedroom flat on the same street as his parents. Grateful for the opportunity, James emphasized the importance of taking chances and encouraged others to participate in similar competitions. Tramway Path is currently running another competition offering a two-bedroom apartment in Sidcup or £400,000 in cash. Co-founder Daniel Twenefour expressed delight in assisting first-time buyers in achieving homeownership.
The competition is open until November 17, with tickets available for purchase starting at £10 for 10 entries.
