Flight operations at a European airport have been halted due to unidentified drone activity, marking the third such incident within a span of two days.
The spokesperson for Vilnius Airport in Lithuania stated that airspace restrictions were imposed following the detection of a drone within the airport’s vicinity.
In a similar occurrence, both of Belgium’s major international airports faced disruptions as a result of drone sightings. Brussels Airport announced a temporary suspension of all incoming and outgoing flights due to drone presence near the airport.
Subsequently, delays and flight cancellations occurred, with potential impacts on flight schedules extending into the following day.
Authorities also briefly ceased air traffic at Charleroi, Brussels’ second-largest airport, as a precautionary measure. Initially, flights were redirected to Liege airport until it too had to close following suspected drone sightings.
