CBC has secured a significant role in Canadian curling through a fresh five-year broadcast agreement that will expand coverage of the Grand Slam of Curling playoffs and all Rock League games on its platforms. The deal with The Curling Group, revealed on Thursday, will result in over 300 hours of combined TV coverage on CBC and Sportsnet during the 2026-27 season.
The major highlight for CBC is its involvement with Rock League. The pro league, which debuted in April, will make a comeback on CBC in January 2027. Every match will be accessible on CBC TV and CBC Gem, with selected games airing on Radio-Canada’s ICI TOU.TV and Sportsnet on Thursdays and Fridays.
Rock League comprises six mixed-gender teams with curlers from various countries. Its second season will feature events on specific weekends in January and April, with games set from Thursday to Sunday.
Additionally, CBC will play a more significant role in the Grand Slam of Curling. Sportsnet remains the primary broadcaster for all five Grand Slam events, commencing in October. It will broadcast three draws daily from Tuesday to Friday. CBC and CBC Gem will join Sportsnet+ for Saturday’s playoff coverage, while Sportsnet will air the championship finals on Sundays, with CBC showcasing select finals throughout the season. Morning round-robin draws and tiebreakers from Tuesday to Saturday will still be streamed on Rock Channel.
This new agreement builds on CBC’s extensive curling legacy and enhances its presence at major Canadian curling events. Chris Wilson, CBC’s executive director of sports and Olympics, expressed enthusiasm about sharing another season of Rock League with audiences nationwide. For The Curling Group, these agreements will broaden the reach of both the Grand Slam and Rock League to a larger national audience. Nic Sulsky, CEO and co-founder of The Curling Group, described it as a pivotal moment for the sport.
Over the next five years, Canadian viewers can anticipate more ways to follow both the Grand Slam playoff weekends and the second season of Rock League on CBC.
