Three-time Olympian Michelle Plouffe has made a comeback from retirement to join Canada’s four-player lineup for the FIBA 3×3 Women’s Series event in Bangkok, Thailand. The 33-year-old Plouffe will team up with her twin sister Katherine Plouffe, along with Cassandra Brown and Paige Crozon for the competition commencing this Saturday.
Canada is currently ranked 10th in the women’s series standings as they enter the crucial phase of the regular season. With only the top seven teams, alongside host China, progressing to the women’s series final in Shanghai on Sept. 5-6, the Bangkok event represents one of Canada’s final chances to accumulate essential qualification points.
Steve Baur, the vice-president and general manager of Canada Basketball’s women’s high performance program, expressed that Michelle’s return was a strategic move considering the team’s position in the standings and the push towards Shanghai. Having been actively involved with the program, Michelle’s re-entry not only bolsters the team at a critical juncture but also provides her with the opportunity to reignite her competitive spirit.
Michelle Plouffe officially retired on July 28, 2025, transitioning into her role as Canada Basketball’s 3×3 performance manager. Throughout her career, she guided Canada to numerous FIBA 3×3 Women’s Series titles, claimed a silver medal at the 2022 FIBA 3×3 World Cup, and secured a fourth-place finish at the Paris Olympics.
