Kristi Miller has been appointed as the temporary chair of Hockey Canada’s board of directors, as revealed by the governing body on Wednesday. She joined the board on November 18, 2023, as part of new leadership changes following the Hockey Canada sexual assault controversy.
The previous Hockey Canada board, including president and CEO Scott Smith, resigned on October 11, 2022, amidst criticism over their handling of sexual assault allegations involving five members of Canada’s 2018 world junior team. Miller, a Vancouver native, secured re-election as a director for a three-year term in November. She currently serves as the president of RTB Enterprises Inc., a financial services company, and previously led Hockey Canada’s audit and finance committee.
In other developments, Jonathan Goldbloom recently stepped down as the board chair, prompting the need for a new election at Hockey Canada’s upcoming annual meeting on December 5 in Toronto.
