“Halle Berry Denies Accusations of Child Abuse in Custody Battle”

Published:

Halle Berry refutes claims made by Olivier Martinez, her ex-husband, that she physically harmed their 13-year-old son, Maceo. The former couple is heading towards a court hearing on Oct. 16 regarding custody and a restraining order.

Martinez has requested full legal and physical custody of Maceo along with a restraining order against Berry. He alleges that Berry was violent towards their son during an incident on Sept. 26 and cites a history of abuse in court documents obtained by CBC News.

A temporary restraining order was granted by a Los Angeles Superior Court judge on Oct. 1, limiting Berry’s parenting time and mandating that she stay 100 yards away from Martinez until the hearing. The judge declined Martinez’s request for monitoring Berry’s sobriety due to insufficient evidence.

Berry has denied the allegations, labeling them as “completely false” and asserting that she has never abused Maceo in any way. She explained that the incident on Sept. 26 started as playful roughhousing that escalated into a disagreement. Berry is seeking to reinstate their previous 50-50 custody agreement.

Berry and Martinez tied the knot in 2013, welcomed Maceo later that year, and finalized their divorce in 2023 with a shared custody arrangement.

In a legal battle update:

– On Oct. 1, Martinez filed for a restraining order and sole custody, alleging physical abuse by Berry towards Maceo.
– On Oct. 3, Nahla, Berry’s daughter with Gabriel Aubry, defended her mother in a declaration.
– On Oct. 4, Berry’s legal team disputed Martinez’s claims and highlighted past violations of court orders.
– On Oct. 5, Berry personally denied the allegations, providing her version of the events on Sept. 26. She emphasized never engaging in any form of abuse towards Maceo and requested the court to restore the 50-50 custody arrangement.

The next hearing is set for Oct. 16 to review the temporary restrictions.
