The recent passing of Hayden Panettiere has been determined as accidental and linked to the “toxic effects” of a combination of substances, including fentanyl, as confirmed by the Greenville County Coroner’s Office. Panettiere, renowned for her roles in television series such as Heroes and Nashville, passed away on August 16 at a residence in Greenville, South Carolina, where she was staying.
Upon the arrival of emergency responders at the scene, Panettiere was found in cardiac arrest, and their attempts to resuscitate her were unsuccessful. Following a collaborative investigation by the Coroner’s Office and the Greenville City Police Department, the official statement from the office disclosed that the cause of death was due to the toxic effects of fentanyl, 4-ANPP, Alprazolam, Methocarbamol, and Quetiapine.
Quetiapine is a medication used for treating conditions like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and major depression, while Alprazolam is prescribed for anxiety and panic disorders. Methocarbamol functions as a muscle relaxant, and 4-ANPP is associated with the production of fentanyl, a potent opioid.
During the autopsy, it was noted that there were no signs of trauma contributing to Panettiere’s death. Reports later revealed that she had recently been discharged from a rehabilitation facility in Malibu, California, just a few weeks before her passing. The actor, who tragically died shortly before her 37th birthday, had openly discussed her struggles with early fame, addiction, and mental health issues, including postpartum depression following the birth of her daughter in 2014.
Panettiere had candidly shared details of her life in various interviews and in her recent memoir, “This Is Me: A Reckoning.” Following her death, numerous tributes and memories poured in from colleagues and admirers. The incident also reignited previous controversies involving Neutrogena, a skincare brand for which Panettiere had been a global brand ambassador for almost a decade before her daughter’s birth. Allegations emerged that the company terminated its association with her after she started speaking openly about her battle with postpartum depression.
