The Canadian women’s basketball team concluded the group stage of the FIBA Olympic Pre-Qualifying Tournament with a 70-64 victory against the home team, Mexico, in Guadalajara on Thursday night. Yvonne Ejim led Canada with 19 points, while Syla Swords contributed 17 points to secure Canada’s 3-0 record. Mariana Valenzuela scored 17 points for Mexico.
In the upcoming semifinals on Saturday, Canada will face New Zealand, while the host team will play against Brazil. The tournament’s final is scheduled for Sunday. The champion of the tournament will secure a spot in one of the FIBA Women’s Olympic Qualifying Tournaments in February 2028.
