IMPOSE TOI clinched his first Grade 1 victory in the Howden Long Walk Hurdle at Ascot, solidifying his position as a top stayer in the field.
Trained by Nicky Henderson, the seven-year-old triumphed over Strong Leader in the Grade Two Long Distance Hurdle at Newbury in his previous outing. Despite facing Strong Leader on less favorable terms this time, Impose Toi widened the gap to a length and a quarter under jockey Nico de Boinville.
The third spot was claimed by Honesty Policy, the 11-4 favorite, who, like Impose Toi, races under the colors of JP McManus.
Impose Toi’s impressive performance led to Ladbrokes shortening his odds to 5-1 for the Stayers’ Hurdle at Cheltenham in March. Henderson praised the horse’s flawless execution and emphasized the significant improvement shown, especially in comparison to their previous encounter at Newbury.
McManus, delighted with the win, is now looking forward to the upcoming King George VI Chase at Kempton Park on Boxing Day, where his horse, Fact To File, will aim to secure his first victory in the prestigious race.
Expressing his desire to win the King George, McManus reflected on his past attempts and the excitement surrounding the upcoming event. With the support of trainer Willie Mullins, McManus is optimistic about their chances at Kempton.
