A mother was shocked to find what appeared to be a “slug” in the milk container that she and her young children had been using. Beth Rees, a 24-year-old resident of Exeter, received a grocery delivery from Tesco on October 17. The following Sunday, she opened the milk carton and used it for her children as usual.
However, on a Wednesday morning last week, while preparing breakfast for her three-year-old and eight-month-old children, Beth made a disturbing discovery. She found a slimy, slug-like creature in the milk that had become bloated from being in the carton for days. Beth described the incident as repulsive and stated that it made her feel sick, prompting her to throw away the pan she was using.
Beth expressed her anger and concern over the situation, especially since her children had been drinking from the contaminated milk. Despite her attempts to contact Tesco about the issue, she faced difficulties getting a response from the company.
After sharing the incident with Tesco and sending them a photo as evidence, Beth received an offer of a £25 voucher as an apology. However, she was more concerned about the potential risk to other customers who might encounter similar “creatures” in their products.
In response to the incident, Tesco stated that they maintain strict quality checks on their milk production and would request the return of the product to the store for further investigation. A Tesco spokesperson expressed regret over the situation and emphasized their commitment to quality control procedures in place for product safety.
Customers are encouraged to return any affected products to the store for a full refund and investigation by the company’s team.
