Three security personnel at a nightclub in downtown Winnipeg are facing assault charges following an incident that left a Winnipeg Sea Bears player with serious injuries earlier this month, according to police reports. Teddy Allen was assaulted at the nightclub during the early hours of August 3, resulting in his hospitalization, as confirmed by the Canadian Elite Basketball League team. The individuals arrested in connection with the assault, aged 35, 37, and 58, were charged with assault causing bodily harm and subsequently released on undertakings after their arrest on Wednesday.
Although the specific nightclub was not disclosed by the police, it was revealed to be located on Main Street, situated between Portage and William avenues. Allen, after undergoing medical examinations and receiving a diagnosis, is currently recuperating at home, as stated in a team-issued press release on Thursday. Expressing his sentiments on the incident, Allen emphasized that such acts of assault should not occur and conveyed his determination to overcome the situation.
