Taylor Ruck Claims Silver at World Aquatics Swimming Cup

Canadian swimmer Taylor Ruck narrowly missed out on winning gold in the women’s 50-meter freestyle event at the World Aquatics Swimming World Cup held in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. The 26-year-old athlete from Kelowna, British Columbia, secured a second-place finish with a time of 23.68 seconds, coming just 5-100ths of a second behind the first-place finisher, Poland’s Kasia Wasick.

Notably, Wasick has maintained an unbeaten streak in short-course races for this particular event since December 2022. In another event, Finlay Knox, hailing from Okotoks, Alberta, clinched the third spot in the men’s 100-meter individual medley with a time of 51.65 seconds.

Australian swimmer Cameron McEvoy set a new World Cup record with a remarkable time of 20.13 seconds in the men’s 50-meter freestyle, marking the second-fastest swim time ever recorded. The competition, spanning three days, will carry on into Friday.
