Montreal authorities reported the tragic death of a woman following a fire incident at a makeshift settlement in the Montréal-Nord district early Wednesday. The emergency services were alerted at approximately 4:50 a.m. when a bystander noticed the blaze near the intersection of Charleroi Street and Lacordaire Boulevard. Upon arrival, law enforcement discovered an unconscious woman who was rushed to the hospital in critical condition and later pronounced dead by officials. There is uncertainty regarding the woman’s age, with estimates suggesting she was in her forties or fifties.
The Montreal Fire Department stated that upon their arrival, the fire had already been extinguished. Investigators from the arson unit will conduct a thorough examination at the site to determine the cause of the fire, which remains unknown at this time.
