“Vancouver Canucks Sign Zeev Buium to $9.38M Extension”

The Vancouver Canucks have agreed to a new eight-year contract extension with defenseman Zeev Buium, with an annual salary of $9.38 million US, as announced by the team on Friday.

Buium, who is 20 years old, recorded three goals and nine assists in 45 games during his last season with Vancouver. He was brought to the team from the Minnesota Wild in a significant trade that involved former Canucks captain Quinn Hughes moving to Minnesota.

Originally drafted 12th overall by Minnesota in the 2024 NHL draft, Buium claimed an NCAA championship with the University of Denver that same year. He has accumulated a total of six goals and 20 assists in 76 NHL games played with both the Wild and the Canucks.

Moreover, Buium has an impressive track record, winning gold medals with the United States at various championships including the 2023 world under-18 championship, the 2024 and 2025 world junior championships, and the 2025 world championship.
