“Wes Streeting Jokes About Becoming Prime Minister”

Published:

Wes Streeting, during a 2018 interview, humorously suggested that he might become Prime Minister in the future, as shown in a recently surfaced video clip.

In the comedic show “Unspun” by Matt Forde, where various MPs were asked to predict the future Prime Minister in ten years, Paul Sweeney, Preet Kaur Gill, Rupa Huq, and John Woodcock all chose Jeremy Corbyn, while Tory Tim Loughton proposed Kemi Badenoch. When asked for his prediction, Streeting jokingly said, “I think probably me.”

The resurfacing of this clip coincided with Streeting having to refute claims of scheming against Keir Starmer. Responding to critical comments about Labour MPs and the Prime Minister, Streeting emphasized the importance of unity and cooperation within the party.

Streeting compared the internal unrest in the party to a reality TV show scenario, affirming his support for the Prime Minister amid the discord. Starmer acknowledged Streeting’s achievements in reducing NHS waiting lists but faced ridicule from the opposing party during a parliamentary session.

Addressing concerns about a reported toxic culture in Downing Street, Starmer reaffirmed his commitment to rebuilding the nation and condemned any attacks on his cabinet members. Streeting’s success in surpassing healthcare targets under a Labour government was also acknowledged.
