A teenage girl’s pleasant outing with her stepfather turned tragic when she was fatally attacked by a bear. Olga Moskalyova, 19, and her stepdad, Igor Tsyganenkov, were walking along a river in Siberia, Russia, when they encountered a group of wild bears. Olga, speaking to her mother on the phone, was suddenly attacked by the ferocious animals.
In a panic, Olga described the harrowing scene to her mother before the call abruptly ended. Initially, the bear targeted her stepfather, then turned its attention to Olga, chasing her and eventually catching her. Despite being attacked, Olga managed to call her mother multiple times for help, screaming in agony.
Initially, Olga’s mother thought it was a prank until she heard the terrifying sounds in the background. She realized the severity of the situation as she listened to her daughter’s distress. Despite the desperate calls for help, Olga’s final words to her mother were heartbreaking, expressing love and forgiveness.
Authorities were alerted by Olga’s mother, leading to a group of hunters dispatched to track down and eliminate the bears. Tragically, the bears were still feeding on Olga’s body when they were located. Before the fatal bear attack, Olga was described as a vibrant and friendly young woman with a promising future.
Bear attacks are becoming more frequent in Russia, particularly in areas where wildlife and humans intersect, leading to conflicts. The incident resulted in the loss of both Olga and her stepfather, who were laid to rest together following the tragic event in 2011.
