“Apple’s iOS 27 Promises Major Performance Boosts for Older iPhones”

Published:

iPhone users with older devices often face performance issues, noticing a decline in speed over time, particularly after each annual iOS update. However, a significant change may be on the horizon in 2026.

Apple recently unveiled iOS 27 at WWDC in California, introducing enhancements such as an improved Siri assistant, upgraded Apple Intelligence, enhanced photo editing tools, and new customization options for the visually appealing Liquid Glass design. Notably, Apple is also touting a substantial performance boost with this update.

According to the tech giant, iOS 27 is expected to accelerate app launches by up to 30%, leading to a smoother user experience. Additionally, Apple claims that photo loading speeds across devices will increase by 70%, and AirDrop transfers will be up to 80% faster.

The exciting news is that these improvements won’t only benefit users of the latest iPhone 17 Pro Max. Thanks to a feature known as the CPU scheduler, older models like the iPhone 11 and iPhone 12 will also experience enhanced speed and fluidity.

The CPU scheduler optimizes performance by prioritizing the app in use on the screen, providing more processing power to the active application rather than spreading it across all loaded processes on the device.

By dynamically adjusting performance levels, users can expect a significantly improved device usage experience. Apple is confident that these enhancements will extend the lifespan of aging devices and eliminate the necessity to upgrade iPhones that are still in good working condition.

Apple stated, “Improvements across platforms enhance key system functions to make everyday tasks quicker, smoother, and more enjoyable.” While the official release date is yet to be announced, iOS 27 is anticipated to be available in September.
